Take arts classes for adults at our Summer Studio: June-July 2017

The NOCCA Institute presents
SUMMER STUDIO
Two months of amazing arts classes for adults
June-July 2017

Have you ever wanted to take a cooking lesson from acclaimed Chef Frank Brigtsen? Or study writing with author Lara Naughton? This June and July, you can do all that and more at The NOCCA Institute’s Summer Studio.

Summer Studio is two months of classes and workshops for adults, and they’re taught by NOCCA’s outstanding faculty, alumni, and visiting artists. Whether you want to brush up on your tap skills with choreographer Heidi Malnar, perfect your drawing technique with Gary Oaks, get the skinny on movie-making with Isaac Webb, or learn how to copyright your work from attorney Ashlye Keaton, we’ve got you covered.

As kids across Louisiana celebrate the end of another school year, it’s the grown-ups’ turn to get back in the classroom. Check out the list of Summer Studio offerings below or at SummerStudioNOLA.eventbrite.com, then click the links to register today!

While we may be tempted to hibernate during the long New Orleans summers, the season can be a great time to challenge ourselves through new projects, or to make progress on ones we’ve already started. This class will stimulate beginning and advanced writers alike to produce new work through generative exercises, as well as the chance to receive supportive, specific feedback on works-in-progress. Our discussions will center on key points of craft: dialogue, exposition (or back story), setting, and how to get closer to your characters. Writers can expect to start one or two new stories, in addition to receiving constructive feedback on one complete story or novel excerpt.

Hi, Charles. It’s possible that we’ll have a drawing class during that time, but we don’t know just yet. As I mentioned, we won’t begin scheduling Summer Studio classes until after the new year. I hope to have a preliminary schedule in place by late February/mid-March.
