Monday, January 6: Broadway @ NOCCA Continues With Alice Ripley

On the heels of its successful first season in 2012/13, the Broadway @ NOCCA concert series returns to New Orleans with some of New York theater’s leading ladies!

The fourth performer in the series is Alice Ripley, appearing on January 6 at 7pm. Ripley received the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for Next to Normal in 2009. She also received the Helen Hayes Award as well as Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations for that show.

Ripley appeared in the original Broadway casts of Side Show (Drama Desk, Tony Award nominations), The Rocky Horror Show, James Joyce’s The Dead, Sunset Boulevard, and The Who’s Tommy. She also appeared on Broadway and on national tour in Les Misérables. Off-Broadway/regional theatre credits include Next to Normal, Five Flights, James Joyce’s The Dead, The Vagina Monologues, Tell Me on a Sunday (Helen Hayes nomination), Shakespeare in Hollywood (Helen Hayes nomination), and Company (Helen Hayes nomination). She has been featured in recordings for Next to Normal; Little Fish; Skinner/Ripley: Raw at Town Hall; Sondheim: The Stephen Sondheim Album; Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens; The Rocky Horror Show; The Stephen Schwartz Album; Duets; Unsuspecting Hearts; Side Show; and The Who’s Tommy. With her band RIPLEY, Ripley has written and produced the albums Everything’s Fine (2001, Sh-K-Boom Records), Ripley EP (2003), Outtasite (2006).

Ms. Ripley will be accompanied on the piano by Jessica Means.
