NOCCA & The Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong Summer Jazz Camp Celebrate Our Faculty And Alumni

Join us for three events that celebrate the role NOCCA and the Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong Summer Jazz Camp have played in maintaining and enhancing New Orleans’ unique culture. All three are free and open to the public, and NOCCA alumni are especially invited to attend!

A screening of Jazz Dreams II, a documentary about Jazz education in New Orleans that chronicles the early careers and education of Courtney BryanIrvin Mayfield, and Jason Marsalis.

Saturday, August 16 at 7pm: CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS
Loyola University’s Roussel Hall
A tribute to former NOCCA faculty member and Armstrong Jazz Camp instructor Alvin “Bat” Batiste. The concert will include a performance by alumnus and NEA Jazz Master Branford Marsalis, poetry by Batiste’s widow Edith, plus appearances by other special guests. Musical direction is provided by NOCCA and Jazz Camp alumni Calvin Johnson and Gregory Agid.

NOCCA’s Freda Lupin Memorial Hall
A tribute to former NOCCA faculty member and Armstrong Jazz Camp instructor, the late Clyde Kerr Jr. NOCCA and Jazz Camp alumni Christian Scott and Courtney Bryan will lead a concert performing Kerr’s music.
