LAST DINNER ON THE TITANIC
NOCCA students and faculty present an immersive dining and entertainment experience on Friday, November 1, 2024
All aboard for an exquisite dinner on the RMS Titanic! Hosted by the Culinary Arts and Entertainment Production Design departments at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA), this immersive dining experience will transport guests back in time to a fateful evening in 1912.
“Last Dinner on the Titanic” will take place on Friday, November 1, 2024 at 6pm, with guests seated on the stage of NOCCA’s Lupin Hall, at 2800 Chartres Street, New Orleans. The entire five-course meal, including hors d’oeuvres and wine pairings, is priced at $150, inclusive of tax and gratuity. Reserve your seat today at TitanicAtNOCCA.Eventbrite.com.
Your journey begins on a dock in Southampton, England. Upon arrival, you’ll be assigned a boarding pass and a seating assignment for dinner. Afterward, you’ll walk up the gangplank and enter the Captain’s Private Dining Room, where you can indulge in nautical-themed cocktails, and where NOCCA’s talented Culinary Arts students will present a meticulously curated four-course meal, inspired by the original menu served on the Titanic‘s maiden voyage. (A full menu, with wine pairings, is included below.) You’ll be seated banquet-style with your fellow guests, as passengers on the Titanic were.
Chef Dana D’Anzi Tuohy, chair of NOCCA’s Culinary Arts department, sees the dinner as an important teaching experience: “Having this opportunity to study menus over 100 years old has been an eye-opening experience for our students. It solidifies their understanding that while the style of eating has changed dramatically over the decades, cooking techniques have stayed true. We are excited to present our menu from that fateful night, reimagined to include some ingredients and preparations more common to our hometown of New Orleans.”
Dinner is only part of the story, though. Blake Coheley, NOCCA’s Director of Admissions who boasts a long resume in musical theater, hopes to surround guests with sights and sounds of the era. “We’ll have musicians and vocalists re-creating the world of the Titanic. Actors will perform as historical characters who were onboard for the ship’s one and only voyage, and you’ll be able to interact with them, just as you would if you were a passenger. It’s going to be a one-of-a-kind experience, and the students are really excited about this unique opportunity to tell a story in this way.”
There is limited seating for this unforgettable dinner, so be sure to make your reservations early!
