The NOCCA Institute’s Press Street Gardens and 5 Press Gallery present “Metaphyta“, an exhibition exploring artists’ relationship with the plant kingdom. The show includes 2D and 3D works in both traditional and experimental mediums in which plant life plays a role. Works included use flora as a muse for exploration of aesthetic concerns or to speak about the human condition, employ organic material as an art-making medium, or utilize art to highlight ecological concerns.
In addition to artwork, the exhibition will host flora that inhabit several artists’ studios.
Featured artists include Nathan Arthur, Charles Chaisson, Hannah Chalew, Jennifer Dove Cooper of Dovetail Purses, Indiana Flint, Miro Hoffmann, Jacob Reptile, and Jonathan Taube.
OPENING RECEPTION: Saturday, April 11, from 6pm – 9pm at 5 Press Gallery and Press Street Gardens.
