January 17: NOCCA’s Visiting Artist Exhibition Opens

The Ken Kirschman Artspace and The NOCCA Institute are proud to announce the 2013 Visiting Artist Exhibition. The exhibition features two- and three-dimensional artwork in a variety of media by David DuBose, Jim Leedy, David Sullivan, and Diana Werts. The opening reception for this show will be Thursday, January 17, from 6pm to 8pm, and the exhibition continues through March 1, 2013.

December 21: Home for the Holidays at House of Blues

The NOCCA Institute, House of Blues, and the family of Daniel Price invite you to Home for the Holidays at House of Blues New Orleans on Friday, December 21, 2012. Home for the Holidays is a night of spectacular art and music benefiting the Daniel Price Memorial Fund for Aspiring Artists, which honors the memory of NOCCA alumnus Daniel Price. In keeping with Daniel’s twin passions of art and music, the Fund provides scholarships for outstanding visual arts and music students at NOCCA.

SPILL: A New Work About Life In Louisiana During The 87 Days Of The Deepwater Horizon/BP Oil Spill

SPILL not only recounts the dramatic story of the tragedy on board the Deepwater Horizon and the subsequent impact of the oil spill on the estuary and marine life, but also takes a close look at the people, the history, the culture, and the environmental crisis of coastal erosion facing southern Louisiana. Louisiana is a bellwether of America’s environmental future: what happens along our coastline hints at what’s to come in the rest of the country.

October 13: The Faubourg Quartet & Jazz Guests Present “Sounds of the Cinema”

Join The NOCCA Institute for a celebration of music and movies on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 7:30pm as we present Sounds of the Cinema, featuring the Faubourg Quartet! This one-night-only event will be held in the spectacular Freda Lupin Memorial Hall, on NOCCA’s campus at 2800 Chartres Street, New Orleans.

September 20: NOCCA Faculty Exhibition Kicks Off The 2012-13 “On The Edge” Gallery Season

March 2 & 3: Spectacular Dance By Stephen Petronio Company

The New Orleans Ballet Association (NOBA) and The NOCCA Institute present the fast-paced, edgy, and exciting Stephen Petronio Company for three performances at NOCCA’s Freda Lupin Memorial Hall on March 2 and 3! Acclaimed by critics as one of the most innovative choreographers of his generation, Petronio is known for his instantly recognizable style of fiercely kinetic and emotional dances.

January 21: Legendary Jazz Pianist Fred Hersch

Join The NOCCA Institute for a very special evening with jazz pianist Fred Hersch. Called “the most arrestingly innovative pianist in jazz over the last decade” by Vanity Fair – alongside hundreds of other accolades – Mr. Hersch will appear with his trio in NOCCA’s Freda Lupin Memorial Hall for one night only on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 8pm.
